This World Is Not My Home My Hope Is in Jesus

Every once in a while, we hear a song lyric or verse that stops us in our tracks. Recently, I was reminded of an old hymn that says, “This world is not my home, I’m just passing through.” Those simple words carry a powerful truth that every follower of Jesus needs to remember. This world is not the destination. It’s temporary. We’re travelers on our way to something eternal. Heaven is our home, and the journey here is meant to prepare us for what’s to come. When we live with that perspective, our worries shrink, our priorities shift, and our hearts long more deeply for eternity with Christ.

If you’ve turned on the news lately, it’s easy to feel discouraged. The world is changing quickly, and not always for the better. But as Christians, we shouldn’t be surprised. Scripture reminds us that these things will happen. Jesus Himself said, “In this world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, ESV). Our calling isn’t to panic or blend in; it’s to stand firm in truth, live with hope, and keep our eyes fixed on Him. Even when everything around us feels unstable, the foundation of our faith remains unshaken. God is still in control, and His promises still stand.

Now more than ever, we need to take our faith seriously. We need to stop letting culture shape our beliefs and start letting God’s Word transform our hearts. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” That transformation begins when we tune out the lies of the world and tune into the voice of God. We can’t afford to be casual Christians in a world that desperately needs the truth of Jesus. We need to be people of prayer, grounded in Scripture, and bold in love. Revival begins not in a crowd, but in a heart that is fully surrendered to Him.
