Director of Next Generation Ministries 111 views

Purpose:
To build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to all next generation ministries from nursery through college while serving as a spiritual leader and role model. Partner with parents, volunteers, staff, elders, and deacons to ground children and students in the foundations of faith so they will grow into a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ, and they may mature into leaders of the church.

 

Position Summary:
The Next Gen Director will have the awesome responsibility of teaching, guiding, and directing children and students, from birth through college, about the most important thing in their lives—the love of Jesus. The right candidate for this position will be an inspirational self-starter, who has a vision and knows how to share that vision with other leaders and get them excited and eager to carry it out. This person should have a real love for children and students and a burning desire to do whatever it takes to ensure that they know the love of Christ—from birth through college. The Next Gen Director will work under the dual supervision of the Associate and Senior Pastors for 2018; 2019 and beyond, report to the Senior Pastor and have various children and student ministry associates under their direct leadership. Initially, the director will lead weekly programs for high school and middle school.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for approving all programs and activities, cohesive curriculum, and provide consistent oversight of all ages between birth – college
  • Work in conjunction with church leadership to coordinate all Next Gen programs and functions in concert with the church’s overall mission, vision, and values
  • Coach, lead, and mentor the Next Gen leaders in all aspects of leadership, including how to have exciting and engaging ministries
  • Assist Directors in vision casting and decision-making for each of their ministries
  • Be an advocate for children and students and educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns, and needs of children and students in the local church and community
  • Mentor children and students in developing their values and leadership skills
  • Partner with parents and include the family; they are an important resource and source of support to the program
  • Create a 5-10 year Strategic Plan for Next Gen ministries
  • Create a culture of “what can we do to make things better”
  • Assist in development, submission, and monitoring of all budgets related to Next Generation ministries
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings
  • Participate and assist in Sunday worship services

 

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Strategically minded, administratively skilled, passionate at recruiting and equipping volunteers
  • Must be confident, but humble – be coachable/willing to learn
  • Growing relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced by action, attitude, and behavior
  • Love working with kids and thrive on busy, eventful days
  • A track-record of recruiting and keeping volunteers – encouraging, mentoring, and making the best use of their spiritual gifts
  • A visionary leader – who can and will lead
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the environment, to change approach or method as is most fitting for each situation and be able to deal with change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Must be capable of participating in physical activities with children and students
  • Basic budgeting, planning and management skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred
  • Experience in ministry in a program working with leaders and volunteers with demonstrable success; a minimum of 3+ years’ experience with children or students
  • Prefer predominant experience in student ministry
  • Overall beliefs must be consistent with the ZPC Statement of Beliefs
