Children’s Pastor 222 views

With high-quality schools and a friendly feel, Ridgefield is one of the fastest growing cities in Washington.  With hundreds of families moving in every year, we are looking to strategically connect with unsaved and unchurched parents and their children through our Children’s ministry.

The Children’s Pastor will help us transition the Children’s ministry from one department among many within the church, to operating as the primary vehicle through which we connect with people and grow the church.  In order to do this, the Children’s pastor will have to move the ministry away from a direct-care programming model to a family discipleship model.

The qualities of any Children’s Pastor include a growing personal relationship with Christ, a love for children, and a sense of calling to serve Christ through the local church.  The ideal Children’s Pastor for Ridgefield Church of the Nazarene will also have demonstrated strengths in the following areas:

Team-Building:  Multiple programs and ministry environments require strong team building skills.  The Children’s Pastor will be able to interact well with adults, able to recruit and build teams of volunteers to serve together.  He/she will see his primary role as raising up volunteers who will do almost all of the hands-on ministry to children. He/she will recognize talents and gifts of potential team members and will place them in ministry positions where they are best able to serve.  He/she will look for leadership potential among volunteers and will develop them into leaders within the department.

Evangelistic Heartbeat: With 1/3 of the city’s population under 18 years of age, a strong Children’s & Family ministry is vital for us to reach the hundreds of families who move into Ridgefield every year.  The Children’s Pastor will relate well with unchurch and unsaved parents and their children.  Last summer we welcomed 300 kids through Vacation Bible School.  He/she will plan with these families in mind, doing everything in his power to reach them. He/she will be willing to carry the primary strategy for the church to reach our community.

Visioneering:  The children’s ministry of RCN will require significant re-envisioning to volunteers, parents and church leaders.  The Children’s Pastor will work with the Lead Pastor to discern the vision for the future of the ministry and will effectively share that vision with everyone in the church.  He/she will develop strategy and programs to fulfill the vision.
