Objective: Bethel Baptist Church strives to be driven by the three E’s that define our mission — Exalt God’s Name, Equip God’s People, and Evangelize God’s World. The position of Associate Pastor of Family Ministries will join with Bethel to provide leadership and direction for our families and their children ages birth through high school.
Bethel Baptist Church is located in Brookings, SD. Bethel is a part of Converge Worldwide. Bethel is a a multi-generational church that is well represented across generations including a group of college students who attend SDSU. Bethel has been seeing a steady growth among young families over the past year which has led to the desire to seek an Associate Pastor of Family Ministries. Bethel strives to hold high the Word of God and seeks to exalt God in all that we do. We are also committed and continuing to work on finding ways to serve the community that God has placed us in to make it a better place to live by doing good in our homes, neighborhoods, schools, work places, and community as a whole. A typical Sunday at Bethel during the school year we average around 160 people. As we seek to continue to reach out and connect with families our desires is to find ways to equip and prepare parents to take on their primary responsibility in discipling their children and providing ministries that encourage parents and build on what the parents are already teaching their children at home.
Brookings, SD is a community of over 22,000 located in eastern South Dakota. Brookings is home to South Dakota State University which has over 10,000 students enrolled and participates in Division 1 athletics. Brookings, SD has a small town feel to it with some bigger town amenities and is a vibrant, growing city with an excellent college that adds much to the community! Brookings has a great school district and is a great place for families with options like the Children’s Museum, a great Park and Rec department, Brookings Aquatic Center, as well as others. In addition Brooking is located only a short drive from Sioux Falls, SD which has a population of over 200,000 and has all the stores and amenities you would want.

9.) Undergraduate degree, preferably ministry-related, but consideration given to gifting.
10.) Successful work experiences that demonstrate diligence, team work, leadership, integrity, and initiative.
11.) Previous ministry-related experience.
12.) A desire and an ability to build and equip ministry teams and empower them to carry out ministry to children and youth.
1.) Develop and provide pastoral leadership for ministries to families, youth and children.
2.) Work in partnership with and in accountability to the senior pastor and elders to carry out the mission and vision of the church as a whole.
3.) Develop and equip a team of volunteer leaders that meets regularly for coordination, encouragement and equipping
4.) Build discipleship focused relationships with students and train additional adult leaders to be in discipleship focused relationships with students.
5.) Provide Biblical counsel as needed to families, parents, youth and children.
6.) Provide administrative oversight to children’s, youth and family ministries.
7.) Participate in the preaching ministry of the church.
8.) Work to identify and address emerging needs of congregation in partnership with the Senior Pastor and elders.
1.) Provide training, resources, and teaching to equip parents to prepare their children to be followers of Jesus.
2.) Plan and implement a mid-week program for children in grades K-5 and youth in grades 6-12.
3.) Work alongside elders and volunteers to review, choose, and possibly write curriculum for ministries birth-12th grade.
4.) Administrate curriculum and teachers for Sunday school classes for birth-12th grade.
5.) Schedule and communicate in a timely manner with volunteers, making sure ministries are staffed appropriately.
6.) Provide leadership in planning and developing ministries such as: a mid-week K-5 program, VBS,retreats, camps, mission trips, etc.
7.) Coordinate connection of college-aged students to mentor and disciple youth.
